Instagram grid splits only work when the larger image still makes sense after it is broken into individual tiles. That means composition has to be planned for both the whole and the parts.
Step 1: Start with a wide enough source
The base image needs enough room to survive being split into separate tiles without every tile feeling empty or awkward.
Step 2: Use a grid-splitting workflow
Open Split Image Grid or Instagram Grid Maker to divide the image into the layout you need.
Step 3: Keep important content away from tile seams
Faces, text, and key product details should not break awkwardly across the lines between tiles.
Step 4: Review each tile alone
The full grid matters, but people may still see individual tiles in the feed. Each one should feel intentional enough to stand on its own.
Better result
If the full composition feels cohesive and the single tiles do not collapse into visual fragments, the split is working.
