How to make a YouTube banner

Create a YouTube channel banner that keeps key branding visible across desktop, TV, and mobile crops.

YouTube banners look simple, but the layout is fragile because different devices show different parts of the canvas. The real task is designing for the visible safe area, not just making a wide image.

Step 1: Start with the right canvas

Use YouTube Banner Maker so you are working inside a banner-specific layout instead of improvising with a generic editor.

Step 2: Put key content in the safe area

Keep the channel name, logo, and important message away from the far edges. Large screens may show more of the banner, but smaller views usually crop harder.

Step 3: Keep the message short

A banner should support the channel identity fast. One brand line, one role statement, or one visual idea is usually enough.

Step 4: Review contrast

If text sits on top of a photo or textured background, make sure the headline still reads instantly. Use stronger contrast before adding more decoration.

Better result

A good YouTube banner feels calm, branded, and readable. If it starts looking like a poster full of competing elements, simplify it.
